The Teachers

Alexandre McCormack

Main Teacher

Alex is a multiple-time vice champion in breaking in the Benelux and has taught various street styles since 2006. In 2013, Alex discovered old films such as Hellzapoppin and The Spirit Moves, which set him on a path to learn and teach the “old-style” of Lindy Hop and jazz. He believes mastering the foundations is key to understanding the dance and personalizing it. His motto is: “Master the foundation to understand the dance and personalize to contribute to it.” He regularly jams to uptempo Bebop Swing, mambo, and slow blues. Alex also trains with the group Old Soulz.

Sing Lim

Main Teacher

Sing took her first Lindy Hop class in 1988 in London and never stopped! She learned from and later taught alongside legends like Ryan Francois and Frankie Manning.

Returning to Singapore in 1995, she began teaching and bringing in top instructors, helping spark Lindy Hop’s growth across Asia. As a competitor, she won or placed in events like the American Lindy Hop Championships and the US Open.

Now, she travels across Asia, sharing her passion for jazz history and dance while embracing the region’s vibrant Lindy Hop communities.

Iylia & Jenn

Guest Teacher

Iylia and Jenn are relatively new to Lindy Hop but have progressed rapidly, traveling across ASEAN for international events and teaching in Indonesia (2022, 2024).

With KL Swing,
Iylia (Frankie Manning Foundation Scholar 2023) and Jenn (DJ Battle KL Champion 2023) teach weekly classes, perform regularly, and were former members of Swingtastic. Their classes blend humor (they really think they're funny), strong technique, and conceptual ideas to (hopefully) tie it all together. Their journey has been purely driven by their motivation to share the joy of swing dancing with as many people as possible.

Su & Pat

Guest Teacher

Sulaiman and Pat discovered swing dancing in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and soon began teaching. They partnered in 2017, specializing in Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Authentic Jazz.

Inspired by classic clips like The Spirit Moves, they balance swing’s rich history with creative exploration, constantly refining rhythms and movements. Their teaching encourages students to push boundaries while embracing the joy of swing.

Based in Bangkok, they primarily teach at Jelly Roll Jazz Club and have shared their passion internationally—teaching, competing, and judging at events across Asia and Europe, including Swing Time Ball (China), KL Swing Fest, Shimmy Fest (Spain), and more.
