SING LIM

Lim Sing Yuen 林星 云

Sing has been dancing Lindy Hop since 1988 when she saw Ryan Francois dancing in London. Since then she was lucky to have met and learnt from many of the original swing era dancers like Frankie Manning, Norma Miller and Dawn Hampton.

Together with Ryan and Julie Oram, Sing ran Jitterbugs London, a weekly Lindy Hop social party with classes, live bands and (as was the only way in those days!) vinyl DJs. She also competed with Ryan, winning the American Swing Dance Campionships in 1994 and taught across the globe from New York to Herrang to Australia.

Sing moved back to her home in Singapore in 1995 and she started teaching Lindy Hop to her friends.  She started inviting teachers from Europe and USA, including Frankie Manning,  Erin Stevens and Lennart Westerlund.  The start of Asia Lindy hop could be said to have been right there!

Sing now teaches at SwingStation in Singapore and she focuses on supporting and enjoying the blossoming of Asia Lindy Hop scene, all the while acknowledging and upholding the roots and culture of Lindy hop culture.
