KL Swing, in collaboration with Blues Dancing KL and Balboa Malaysia, are proud in our pledge to adopt and observe Safe Space's Code of Conduct in our never-ending commitment to protect and provide the safest environment possible to the dancers in the community.

Our aim is to also build a Culture of Consent within the scene by 

empowering each dancer with the ability to dance easily with ability to TEA-L;D/R:

Allies

An ally is an individual who actively assists and supports someone in an unsafe or uncomfortable situation.  Think of it as being a local guide to our scene, with the task of advocating for those who experience harassment in our dance community.

Frequently Asked Questions

What constitutes harassment?

Harassment includes inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome attention (sexual or otherwise), unwanted advances, offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, and sustained disruption of events.

Safe Spaces will do our best to protect your anonymity and will only disclose your identity with your consent.

What should I do if I witness something unusual?  

Please get in touch with the Safe Spaces reps or crew.

I don't want to be identified. Can I still make a disclosure/report? 

Yes, your identity will be kept confidential after you make a disclosure or report. 

​

I don't want any action to be taken. Should I still disclose? 

Yes, we encourage you to speak up, as your disclosure may help other people avoid the same situation.

What happens after a report/disclosure is made? 

The Safe Spaces committee may verify the details with the reporter and/or any eyewitness, and ask for the expected action. From the known details, they will decide on further action. 

​

What are the next steps after the committee has discussed an incident/case? 

Depending on the nature and severity, it could be monitoring, a reminder or a warning to the accused, or an outright ban from all events.
